What we tested
Roblox’s help pages do not list which characters a display name may contain, so we checked candidates against the same validation Roblox’s settings use (on 15 October 2026). Plain names passed, including one space or one underscore. Two spaces, two underscores, periods, hyphens, apostrophes, accented letters (é), Cyrillic, Korean, full-width letters, ★ ♛ ツ ꧁꧂, fancy Unicode letters, emoji and blank characters were all refused.
Roblox’s help page says Japanese characters are in beta for some accounts, so a Japanese display name may work on your account even though the general rule refuses it.
Making a plain name stand out
With symbols ruled out, Roblox names stand out through capitals (MoonRider), a single underscore or space (Moon_Rider, Moon Rider) and numbers. Display names do not have to be unique, so you can use the exact name you want even if someone has it; usernames must be unique.

Can you have an invisible Roblox name?
No
No. We tested the Hangul Filler (U+3164), braille blank (U+2800) and zero-width space (U+200B) against Roblox’s display name validation and all three were refused as invalid characters. The invisible character tool explains each blank character and lets you copy them.
How to change your Roblox display name
- Open Settings and go to Account Info.
- Select Change Display Name.
- Enter the new name (3 to 20 characters) and save. You can do this once every 7 days, free.
To change your username instead, use Change Username in the same place: it costs Robux, the price is shown before you buy, and your past usernames stay visible on your profile.
