Four ways to reverse text
- Reverse letters: Hello world → dlrow olleH. Classic backwards text for puzzles, secret messages and usernames.
- Reverse word order: I love typing → typing love I. Useful for word games and for flipping "last, first" names.
- Reverse each word: I love typing → I evol gnipyt. Words stay in place but read backwards.

Backwards text, mirror text and right-to-left text
Backwards text uses normal letters in reverse order, so anyone can read it by reading right to left. Mirror text swaps each letter for a look-alike that faces the other way, as if seen in a mirror, and upside-down text uses characters that look rotated. Languages such as Arabic and Hebrew are written right to left by design; reversing them here changes the order of the stored characters, which is rarely what you want for real text in those scripts.

How do I write text backwards? +

What is the difference between reversing letters and reversing words? +
Reversing letters flips the whole line character by character ("one two" becomes "owt eno"). Reversing word order keeps each word readable but changes their order ("one two" becomes "two one"). "Reverse each word" keeps the word order but flips the letters inside each word ("eno owt").
Can I make mirror or upside-down text? +
Reversing only changes the order of characters. For letters that are flipped as well, use the mirror text style (ɘɿoɿɿim) or the upside-down text style (ʇxǝʇ uʍop ǝpısdn) in the fancy text generator.
Does reversing break emoji? +
No. The tool reverses whole characters as you see them, so emoji with skin tones, flags and accented letters such as é stay intact instead of splitting into their hidden parts.
How do I reverse a list? +
Choose "Reverse lines". The last line becomes the first and the first becomes the last, which is handy for flipping a ranking, a timeline or a numbered list. To sort a list instead, use the alphabetical order tool.
