How black squared text works
Each letter is swapped for a character from the Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block (U+1F170βU+1F189). These were added for legacy East Asian encodings, where enclosed letters and numbers are common in lists and forms.
Coverage for this style: AβZ (lowercase becomes uppercase). Anything outside that range passes through unchanged.

Support warning: this style uses less common characters. It renders on current iPhones, Android phones, Windows 10 and later and macOS, but may show as boxes on older devices, smart TVs and some games.

This style covers AβZ (lowercase becomes uppercase). Characters outside that set have no styled equivalent in Unicode and are left as they are.

Not in the @username, which only allows letters, numbers, periods and underscores. It works in your display name, bio and captions.
Can screen readers read black squared? +
