About Ukrainian letters

Ukrainian shares most letters with Russian but adds ґ, є, і and ї and drops ё, ъ, ы and э. The apostrophe is used as a letter-like separator (м’ясо).

The Ukrainian (Enhanced) layout on Windows includes ґ on the key left of Z.

A phonetic layout is available on macOS as Ukrainian - PC or Ukrainian - QWERTY.

How to switch your keyboard to Ukrainian

Windows

Open Settings → Time & Language → Language & region, add Ukrainian (or open the options for your language and add the Ukrainian (Enhanced) keyboard). Switch layouts with Win+Space. The current layout is shown next to the clock.

Mac

Open System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources → Edit, click +, and add Ukrainian or Ukrainian - QWERTY. Switch with Control+Space or from the input menu in the menu bar. Turn on Show Input menu in menu bar to see which layout is active.

iPhone and iPad

Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and choose Ukrainian. Switch by holding the globe key on the keyboard.

Android

In Gboard, open Settings → Languages → Add keyboard and choose Ukrainian. Switch by holding the space bar or tapping the globe key.
