About Korean (Hangul) letters

Hangul letters (jamo) are grouped into syllable blocks. The characters here are the standalone compatibility jamo; typing them in sequence with a Korean keyboard composes syllables such as 한 automatically.

The 2-set (Dubeolsik) layout is standard: consonants on the left hand, vowels on the right. Every OS includes it under Korean.

Pasting standalone jamo does not merge them into syllables; use the Korean keyboard to compose words.

How to switch your keyboard to Korean (Hangul)

Windows

Open Settings → Time & Language → Language & region, add Korean (Hangul) (or open the options for your language and add the Korean (Microsoft IME, 2-set) keyboard). Switch layouts with Win+Space. The current layout is shown next to the clock.

Mac

Open System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources → Edit, click +, and add Korean - 2-Set. Switch with Control+Space or from the input menu in the menu bar. Turn on Show Input menu in menu bar to see which layout is active.

iPhone and iPad

Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and choose Korean. Switch by holding the globe key on the keyboard.

Android

In Gboard, open Settings → Languages → Add keyboard and choose Korean. Switch by holding the space bar or tapping the globe key.
